Introduction

ASSMANG Pty Ltd requires the services of Officer Risk and Standards at their Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km North-West of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

Description
Main Task and Responsibility: Assist line management with updating, implementing and maintaining the SHERQ Management system. Develop risk control measures and standards to ensure compliance to legal and other requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Certificate: Grade 12.
• Diploma: Safety Officer. (Required)
• National Diploma: Safety Management. (Alternative)
• Blasting Certificate or Red Seal. (Required)
• Valid Drivers Licence: Code B. (Required)
• Dover B Symbol. (Required)

Experience and Requirements:

• 5 Years Practical Risk Assessment and Management / SHERQ Management Systems (ISO Standards) / Mining or Engineering operational experience.

Knowledge and Skills: 

• Microsoft Office, Isometrix or any SHERQ Information Systems.
• Support and participate in sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimisation.
• Drawing from own experience or vocational knowledge.
• Identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improved productivity and reduce operating costs within scope.
• Obtain, check, and refine information.
• Collate and submit reports. Run data exception reports and take corrective action.
• Conduct document control spot-checks.
• Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members or using own vocational knowledge and experience.
• Implement compliance requirements. Communicate compliance changes.
• Provide input into sub-functional planning. Plan team activities.
• Resolve problems as they are encountered to ensure achievement against plan.
• Ensure operational plan is implemented.
• Coordinate, facilitate and document risk assessments to ensure that control measures are put in place and ensure that management plans for additional controls are implemented to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Conduct observations and draw analytical reports on risk.
• Facilitate and document controls that require monitoring and measurement.
• Implement standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
• Conduct periodic monitoring and measurement to assess the organisation’s compliance levels.
• Coordinate and manage the development of required Safe Work Procedures, Standards and Codes of Practice.

Terms and Conditions: The candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996. Remuneration will be based on a competitive all inclusive flexible package.
